Punakha Valley

took a slow drive along the river banks of the Punakha valley yesterday afternoon, stopping off to take some photo’s of the landscape, local farming communities, rice fields and homes – also stopped off at the Pungtang Dechen Photrang Dzong (Fortress) located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers which was the administrative centre and the seat of the Government of Bhutan until 1955, when the capital was moved to Thimphu, where we stayed over last night

woke up this morning to the sound of rain and a valley completely covered in clouds

leaving for Paro this morning and will drive over Dochula pass again towards Thimpu, with the mist and rain should take us a good 5-6 hours to reach our final destination (and seems very unlikely that I’ll get another chance at taking the those photo’s of the Himalayan mountains, so perhaps one day the opportunity will present itself again…

will be taking a 2-3 hour mountain trek tomorrow up to Tigers Nest!
